ZULI is Ahmed El Ghazoly — a multi-instrumentalist, producer and sound artist from Cairo, Egypt and co-founder of VENT, a music-space-turned-club-night in Cairo with a sister night and record label based in London. As a key player in the KiK (Kairo is Koming) group and prominent figure in Egypt’s independent music scene for near a decade, his production credits span from post-punk and shoegaze to hip hop and techno.
ZULI solo debuted on Lee Gamble’s UIQ label with the Bionic Ahmed EP to resounding acclaim in early 2016. Bionic Ahmed covers a unique electronic perspective, taking cues from classic UK rufige, Æ‘s computer music and hip hop. On July 28, during Norbergfestival 2017, ZULI’s second EP, Numbers, is released on UIQ.
ZULI’s participation at Norbergfestival 2017 is brought in partnership with Simsara music management agency, producing collaborations between Sweden and the Arab world with support from Musikverket.
