‘Räkna evighet som intet’, roughly translated: counting eternity as nought, is a new piece commissioned by Norbergfestival, written by Swedish composer Erik Enocksson for vocal ensemble, string quintet, speakers and electronics. It will be premiered live at Norbergfestival 2022 while a studio recording is to be co-released by iDEAL Recordings and Enocksson’s Irrlicht label in the first half of 2023. The work features text by Swedish poet Lotta Lotass and an original artwork by Swedish visual artist Christine Ödlund.
Over the last twenty years, Erik Enocksson has established himself as a singular voice in contemporary Nordic film music through his hauntingly beautiful scores to accoladed art house movies. His intensely personal and visceral compositions, though often carried forth by minimal instrumentation dressed in sparse arrangement, move seamlessly between distinct melodies and suggestive, resonant moodscapes.
Enocksson’s commissioned works has enjoyed an extended life through the album format, and releases on prestigious underground labels like Posh Isolation, Kning Disk, Release the Bats, etc. have over the years gained him somewhat a cult following.
After a long break from the music scene, followed by a string of collaborations with fellow Scandinavian’s Body Sculptures and Kali Malone, ‘Räkna evighet som intet’ will be Enocksson’s first solo full length album in a decade.
