Mouvement Workshop with Live Music
This dance workshop invites the participants into an open space to explore movement and find new ways of moving through a concept we’ve developed and named Movement Scan.
Movement scan provides participants with tools for bodily awareness, respecting their own and others boundaries before entering the festival life. The workshop uses different methods and exercises that explore the interference between the individual and the group, thus asking the question: how to manage your own agency in order to provide agency for other bodies?
Some exercises suggest physical touch, and therefore raising awareness on consent is the core of sharing the space with other bodies. In searching for the embodied sensation of a yes and a no, the participants work with the boundaries of themselves and others. We provide alternatives for those preferring non-contact participation. This two-hour session welcomes all, regardless of age and dance experience - every body is a dancing body (Maximum participants: 30).
The workshop is hosted by Maya Giraudet and Mira Buus, students in Dance Performance at Stockholm University of the Arts. We work together with Eli Ulfhammer, electronic musician educated at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, who accompanies the space with a live set using soundscapes inspired by and reacting to the atmosphere and energy of the people attending. Throughout the workshop, the soundscapes develop from ambient to more beat-oriented following the dynamic of the movements.
