Murrettumeri

Murrettumeri is the primary solo project of Helsinki-based producer and sound designer Henia Lilja Nikkilä (she/they). Originating from the musical background of various band compositions and touring in Europe and Japan, Murrettumeri was born in the juxtaposition of instrumental music, video games and avant-garde electronica.

Having released her most recent EP ‘Back Life’ in 2023 on Spanish label Interior, she combined nostalgia-amplified trance-tropes, bursts of contemporary pop and rave music into a combination which threaded the line within and off the grid, in and around genres. In addition to her solo musical practice via Murrettumeri and angel xenakis, she is an affiliate and member of Helsinki-based collective SURREXIS, and has collaborated with Kaino Wennerstrand on her performance piece ‘Fixit’, a work based on the history of European Union.

Murrettumeri is performing in Mimerlaven as part of the showcase of World Canvas, a Helsinki-label and cross-disciplinary platform for unconfined expressions of emotion. World Canvas strives to provide a home for artists on the fringes and backlots of contemporary art. It is a blank surface, open to host audiovisual explorations, fictional fantasies and outcries of yearning.
