
Nima Hasan
Nima Hasan is a Palestinian writer and poet from Gaza, born in 1980 in Rafah and now lives in Deir al-Balah. She works as a social worker in her day job. She has published the novels Where the Flames Dance and It Wasn't Death, as well as a book of letters: Her Letters. The first publication of her poems in Swedish – The Last Butterfly – was released in 2025, translated by Jasim Mohamed. Nima has participated in several magazines, including Mazna, ArabLit, and Harvard (in English) in the US. She is one of Gaza's strong literary voices.
Since Hasan cannot leave Gaza, recordings of her poetry will be incorporated by Brenda El Rayes into her live set as part of this year's literature program at the intersection of text and sound Lyrik i Samklang: Palestine-Lebanon-Sweden.
